The history of India dates back almost five thousand years, and Rajasthan plays a crucial and unique role. This is a land of the legends of heroism and romance that still resound from its cities to village, from the forts, palaces, havelis, streets, that stands to narrate its tale of a bygone era. The magic of Rajasthan is unequalled in the world for its heritage, culture, safaris, sand dunes and lush green forests with its wildlife all of which one will experience on this tour. This tour moves first to Mandawa and then Bikaner, small rural towns filled with local havelis that are waiting to be explored. We then go to Jaislamer, situated right in the middle of the desert after which we travel to Osian, the camel camp where one visits the local potters and weavers on camelbacks. The next two stops are Jodhpur and Udaipur famous for its forts and palaces. Along the way we also stop over at Pushkar and Jaipur all rich in their heritage and culture. We end at Agra, city of the Taj Mahal, where one can feel the majestic aura of this beautiful monument Them train to Khajuraho via historical Orcha temples.

Day 1 - Arrive Delhi

Traditional welcome on arrival at Delhi international airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 – Delhi

After breakfast, guided tour of historic city of Delhi. The city where one can experience the influence of the many rulers who ruled this region, a city built and destroyed and re-built over seven times. The guided tour takes to the monuments that depict the different eras. The tour includes the magnificent Red Fort, the Jama Masjid, Asia's largest mosque, Rajghat - the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi - the "Father of the Nation". Afternoon tour of New Delhi to include Humanyun Tomb, Birla Mandir, Bahai Temple, Qutab Minar, India Gate, President'' House and drive through Connaught Place. Evening, see Son-et-Lumerie at Red Fort (optional). Overnight at hotel.

Day 3 - Delhi - Mandawa (250kms/ 5 hrs)

Breakfast at hotel. Upon arrival, check in hotel. Evening free at leisure to visit the local havelis and forts in Mandawa. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4 - Mandawa - Bikaner (190 kms / 4 hrs)

Breakfast at hotel. Then drive to Bikaner. Check in hotel. Later, half-day guided sightseeing of various Havelis & palaces of the Rajput era. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5 - Bikaner – Jaisalmer (325 kms / 6.5 hrs)

Breakfast. Later, drive to Jaisalmer. Enjoy the drive viewing the lovely life of the deserted land, passing through the villages. Evening, enjoy camel ride to the Sam Sand Dunes in the desert city of Rajasthan. Arrive Jaisalmer by late evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6 – Jaisalmer

Breakfast at hotel. Then, full day guided city sightseeing visiting the Jaisalmer Fort, Jain Temple, Gadsisar Tank, Folk Museum, Patwan Ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli, Diwan Nathmal ki Haveli, Badal Vilas Palace and evening walk through narrow cobbled streets. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7 - Jaisalmer – Jodhpur (290 kms / 6.5 hrs)

Breakfast. Early morning drive to Jodhpur, the capital of the Marwar State. Evening free to explore the tiny shops in the narrow lanes of the city. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 8 -Jodhpur–Ranakpur--Udaipur (260kms / 5 hrs)

Morning guided sightseeing tour of the city, which includes: Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada and Mandore Garden After noon, drive to Udaipur. Enroute stopover at Ranakpur, to visit the famous Jain temples. The City of Dawn, surrounded by the ancient Aravali Mountains and set on the edge of three lakes, is a brilliant kaleidoscope of narrow lanes flanked by bright stalls, gardens, lakes, palaces and temples. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9 – Udaipur

After breakfast, full day guided sightseeing of the city including City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon-ki-Bari and a excursion to Eklingi, famous for its Jain temples. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10 - Udaipur – Pushkar

Today drive to Pushkar – the city of Brahma, on arrival check in into hotel. Rest of the day free to relax. Overnight at hotel

Day 11 - Pushkar

In the morning half take a city tour covering Jagat Pita Shri Brahma Temple – The only exquisite temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, Apteshwar Mahadeo Temple – Dedicated to Lord Shiva. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12 – Pushkar-Jaipur

Enjoy a royal breakfast at hotel. Then guided excursion to the majestic Amber Fort - the erstwhile capital of the Kachwahas Rajputs before they moved to their newly built capital in Jaipur. This is the only fort where one can still go by the elephant back even today like a Maharaja. Evening at leisure for enjoying the real charm of this royal city to stroll in the local bazaars to see some handicrafts and artisans. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13 - Jaipur – Agra (232 kms / 4.5 hrs)

Breakfast at hotel. Then proceed to Agra via Fatepur Sikri; a World Heritage Site. Assisted by a guide visit this world famous complex of monuments and temples built in a uniform architectural style. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 14-Agra (232 kms / 4.5hrs)

Day at disposal. In the morning, visit the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal of Agra is a monument built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of her wife Mumtaz Mahal while the Agra Fort was built by Emperor Akbar. Built with red sandstone the Fort is a mixture of the Islamic and Hindu styles of architecture.Overnight at the hotel.

Day 15 –Agra (232 kms / 4.5 hrs)

Day 17 –Agra-Jhansi - Orcha

Morning, leave by train for Jhansi. Check into the hotel and proceed to Orchha (19 kms.) A medieval India is projected palace complex built in l6th and l7th centuries, overlooking the Betwa river. Also of interest are Orchha's temples with heir unusual murals. Return and overnight in Jhansi.

Day 18 Orcha-Khajuraho( 178 kms / 04 hrs )

Early morning drive to Khajuraho. Check into the hotel. Afternoon visit the world' famous Khajuraho Temples built by the Chandela Kings between 950 A.D. and 1050 A.D. the Chaunset Yogini Temple dedicated to Goddess 'Kali' the Mahadev Temple, Chitragupta or Bharatji Temple with a lovely image of 11 headed Vishnu, Vishwanath and Nandi Temples, Lakshmana Temple Visha Temple dedicated to Shiva, which is the largest. Overnight in Khajuraho.

Day 19 Khajuraho-Delhi

Morning visit the Eastern group of temples that consist of the Parasvanath Temple, which is the only Jain temple surviving at Khajuraho and has excellent sculptures on the outer walls of the sanctum, the Javeri Temple dedicated to Vishnu. The other temples in this group are dedicated to Brahma, Yamuna and Adinath. Fly to Delhi 9W724 dep 1440, arr 1600, transfer to the hotel for wash/change. late night transfer to international airport.
